Accounting is a bigger-picture function that essentially analyzes business and personal financial patterns and then advises how to proceed based on those patterns. The bookkeeping skillset is different, and although any CPA worth his or her salt is qualified to perform the bookkeeping function, it’s not efficient and ultimately costs the accountant and the client more time and expense than keeping the two functions separate.
